ITL 602 Reflection

This course has been very informative on how to keep a professional tone in the classroom. It's important to have a fair and just classroom in terms of race, politics, and economic factors. A TED Talk by Dr. Regina Williams discussed prejudgement of students, and how to overlook shortcomings of students in the present, because they could be rising stars in the future. This connects back to remaining neutral in the classroom, and ensuring same learning opportunities are given to all students. The course also discusses that teachers must dress professionally, and continue to grow as an educator. This was a very interesting course, and I have gained much knowledge that I will continue to use in further courses.

Effective Teaching Methods

I believe an inspiring teacher should go above and beyond to ensure all students have the same learning opportunities in the classroom. In my experience as a substitute teacher, I've seen multiple levels of learning comprehension, and have taken appropriate time to make sure all instructions are explained properly for each and every student. I make sure I roam around the classroom to help students, and continuously check their work progression. Included below is an interesting link on "effective" teaching in the classroom.
